Our Story

Flutterbye Farm's humans, Gary and Suzette, bought their first two alpaca boys, Dean and Endeavor, in 2012.  The alpacas did a great job of grazing down the grass, but, what to do with the yearly bags of fleece that they also produced?  Already a knitter and crocheter, Suzette was given a spinning wheel that had lived in an attic for over ten years.  She began spinning their wool into yarn.
After visiting The Mannings, on a quest for more knitting patterns, Suzette and Gary took a weekend weaving course and the rest is history.  The fiber studio along with Suzette's oboe reed-making table has now taken over the library in their 1802 house in rural Pennsylvania. The goal is to make enough money from garment sales to buy feed for the animals that live on the farm.  A worthy goal for two retired teachers!
